"...exists to provide a wide variety of opportunities for all persons to know the love of Jesus Christ and become his faithful followers."

New Orleans Blog

Hello everyone,
It's Devin here from the great state of Louisiana.  We arrived Sunday at about 2 PM, CT.  It's great to get the legs stretched out after a long ride, and Bill only got upset a couple of times.  So, I guess we're off to a good start.  Each day I plan on having one or two people from the mission team come here and share some thoughts on the days work.  You can send your comments, prayer requests, or goodwill to my e-mail (devinl@rochester.rr.com) and I will pass it on to the rest of the crew.  Also, I will try to upload some new photos each day.

I hope each of you will remember this week, that although we are on a so called "mission trip" in New Orleans and that we are all in fact Christ's mission team, and that you would each take where you are at this week, whether it be praying for us or helping someone at home.  Don't go this week without sharing the message of love we find in Jesus Christ.

Monday

Hey y'all. Leon here in chilly NOLA. We went to our work site this morning thinking we would be finishing up the drywall and  spraying the walls with textured paint. To our surprise it was all done. So we primed the interior and started the final coat. Some of the guys went with Myra (home owner) who picked out all the paint colors. We will try uploading some pics later. Thanks for all your prayers and support.

Tuesday

Fat Tuesday was anything but the normal Tuesday you come to grow accustomed to in your everyday life.  Turns out pretty much everything but convenience stores are closed in New Orleans on Fat Tuesday.  Great for the people of New Orleans, but it makes it difficult when you need supplies.  So, with a limited number of tasks, we decided to go out and see the Zulu parade in the Morning and finish our days work in the afternoon.  Word of advice...if you ever go to a parade where they are giving things away...DON'T STAND BEHIND CUTE KIDS, because you will get NOTHING.  Gary looked at one of the little kids bags ful of goodies she had collected during the day, and the girl shot him a look like he must be out of his mind.  Well, time is short, Tuesday was productive...hoping for the supplies to get started with Wednesday morning.  Keep us in your prayers, that we may have the opportunity to share the love of Christ in New and interesting ways each day, and remember to e-mail you comments, prayer requests, or whatever else you would like shared with the mission team.
